Tywardreath and Par is a parish on the south coast of Cornwall between Fowey and St Austell. The parish  is located to the north east of St. Austell Bay (once Tywardreath Bay) in what was the old borough of Restormel.  It is bounded to the west by the parish of St. Blazey, to the north by Lanlivery, to the east by Golant and to the south by Fowey.

The population is just over 3000, and the main settlements are Tywardreath village and Par village. The old village of Tywardreath is situated above Par, and is home to the local school.  It is the site of the ancient Benedictine Priory. Par sits across the A3082 St. Blazey-Fowey road and has on its sea side the wonderful family beach of Par Sands.

The southern side of the parish runs along Par beach and the nature reserve. Much of the parish is farmland and woodland with the ruins of abandoned industrial mining, and is bisected by the Plymouth - Penzance railway line. Par station is the junction for the Newquay branch line.

The other part of the parish, Tywardreath Highway, consists of approximately 50 dwellings built along either side of the A390 St. Austell-Lostwithiel road.

The area was familiar to the author Daphne du Maurier, and many of the locations in her books can be identified in and around the parish. In the Cornish language Tywardreath translates as "House on the Strand".
