Consultation on the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) has finished.

Cornwall Council also carried out a consultation between August and mid-October.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed ideas and made comments at every stage in the consultation process.

Tywardreath and Par Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP)

The Steering Group is delighted to report that Cornwall Council 'signed off ' on the NDP on 14th January 2021 and the NDP now carries significant weight as regards Development (planning application) decisions. We thank everyone in the community who contributed their time, their ideas and made comments at every step in the process.

We were pleased that the independent External Examiner accepted and endorsed the views of the community and noted that: 'The Plan is well evidenced, and a lot of hard work has gone into framing the Plan and its policies. To suit the coastal location there is an innovative use of the concept of blue/green open space.' Local Green Space designation has been recognised as appropriate for the vast majority of the areas we put forward. We thank CPRE (the countryside charity) and the Open Spaces Society for supporting the Tranquil Areas policy, which is a first for Neighbourhood Plans, as far as Cornwall Council is aware.

The NDP includes a number of comprehensive policies which are designed to encourage biodiversity and respect for our heritage, whilst also enabling the provision of Affordable Housing in sustainable locations. The designation of a Development Boundary for the settlements of Tywardreath and Par is an essential element in ensuring this happens. The final step in the process is the referendum when parish residents have the opportunity to vote on whether they support the NDP.

When will the referendum take place?

All council elections, including NDP referendums, are currently suspended due to Covid-19.

The Neighbourhood Plan Key Documents are listed here.
